How Many Hours Does Homeschooling Take?

Often times when I am talking to mothers who are passively thinking about homeschooling, they often say "Oh, I don't know how I could do it all in one day!". Initially, I thought this was a mother's way of saying she just could not take on another task like this. BUT tonight it dawned on me.... MOST MOTHER'S DON'T REALIZE THAT a HOMESCHOOLING DAY takes up A FRACTION OF THE TIME AS THOSE IN SCHOOL!

Don't believe me? Check out this link. She does a fantastic way of outlining how it all works. For the most part, we do follow these guidelines. (Although, I just ran into this tonight, it was already what we were doing, and what felt right).

How Many Hours Does Homeschooling Take?

For those of you "on the fence", here is a great peak into how homeschooling works for many families, including my own. Oh, and yes, I do use a timer. Sometimes we shut it off and continue with a subject that is fun and the kids are enjoying, or sometimes not. That is the joy of homeschooling - pure, blissful flexibility. And yes, they DO learn!!! :)

Thank you so much! I loved hearing from veteran homeschoolers on how they do things. And I loved how Karen Conner broke the days down. I'm looking forward to implementing some of her suggestions this year.

I love hearing from other skilled homeschooling Moms too! Especially schedules - it makes me feel like I am more on track than I ever feel like I am! LOL
